Cloud Home

 

The Cloud Home represents an ethereal, dreamy response to the environmental occurrence of lenticular clouds on the Front Range. This distinct morphological event rooted in the uniqueness of this place inspires the sensuous roof form, which breaks away from the simple wall structure folding into the land forms stretching to the horizon. Stretching east to west, the solar exposure is maximized, with cantilevered sun screens taking further advantage of this abundant energy source. Tucking into the plains offers thermal mass, and the separate pavilion housing the garage further clarifies the home's connection to nature.

While the Cloud Home remains unbuilt, we hope that it serves as an homage to inquiry and curiousity stemming from the natural phenomena so prevalent around us.
