Dushanbe Cybercafe

The Dushanbe Cybercafe is a reciprocal gift to the people of Dushanbe, Tajikistan who had given a Persian teahouse to the people of Boulder in 1990. The Cybercafe is meant to represent the values of openness, freedom of expression and communication, and a relationship to nature, all of which reflect Boulder’s values.  The passive solar structure requires minimal heating and cooling, while utilizing a photovoltaic roof to generate solar electricity to drive the computers.  It is a place of social conviviality as well as a learning center and space for performance and art.
