Florida Community College

Jacksonville, Florida

Barrett Studio worked with the staff of the Florida Community College of Jacksonville to establish educational design criteria for creating a program in the conversion of a 270,000 sf failed shopping mall. The defunct mall was to become a place for adult learning. This campus combines distance learning with a highly interactive on-site exchange between students and faculty. As Educational Design Consultant, David Barrett worked in a team arrangement with Thompson, Ventulett and Stainback Architects to create an “open campus” that became a state of the art, high tech/low touch learning community.
