Tropical Home
Orlando, Florida
This custom residence on a small lake in Orlando, Florida, brings open, flow through living to its tropical garden site. Three pavilions provide for live/work/guest spaces, intertwining architecture with awesome mature live oaks and lush vegetation. Dramatic cantilevers provide shade and bring dynamic movement to the simple form. This bioclimatic design approach draws from lessons from the past to create a cool, loftlike environment.
Inside, the simplicity of the architecture meets the eclectic art collection of the owners, which finds its place in the many nooks, pass throughs, and layers of the living environment. A cooly casual materials palette includes ocala block, galvalume, and corrugated cement siding on the exterior, with terrazzo floors, louvered windows and exposed block on the interior - forming a perfect backdrop for the clients’ light & whimsical personalities.
